  4. What do I do if I can’t find a memory or feeling that is related to the emotion I am trying to clear no matter how far back I go?

When clearing the emotions from the list, I’m wondering, if one doesn’t relate or can’t go back and find a feeling pertaining to the emotion, how do you clear it? If you cannot find the feeling, does that mean you don’t have the fear? Or can one have fears without knowing about them?

For example, if I’m clearing the fear of being “too much” but can’t find the feeling of it, how do I contact the feeling to clear it? I have an intuitive feeling this is a fear of mine but I can’t find a memory to sit with.
Is it ok to do a ‘what if’ scenario and bring it up that way or would you just ignore the fear and move to the next one?

If you can’t access a past memory it’s OK to do a future ‘what if’ projection to bring it up. Basically anyway you can access it is fine. It’s just that most people are able to do it most easily with memories, and so that’s why we suggest it. Also, if you truly do have a deeper emotion that is not easily surfaced, it will eventually get triggered by some event in your life, and so even if there is a strong desire to be proactive, in those cases sometimes it’s easier to just wait and focus on what’s more easily accessible.

Often times getting in touch with our emotional wounds is like peeling an onion—once the easily accessible surface layers are removed, the deeper ones begin to surface. Don’t force it.
