It is not absolutely necessary, no. The processes will still work. We recommend labeling to help be thorough and methodical, and it can often lead to deeper insight into patterns, etc., but it is not necessary for the techniques to work properly.

If you can’t label or identify the emotion, just use the techniques as best you can anyway, and you will still notice a significant shift.
